Mr. Obi

Obi is about four years old. He's a gorgeous dog, and smart - may have had some obedience training, as he picked up leash work very quickly.

Obi does have a heart condition, and is on meds. He needs to avoid strenuous exercise.

Dodge when he came in. Such a sad face!

Not in good shape when he arrived

What an improvement!

Dodge

Dodge came in to a shelter (along with another boxer) as a cruelty case. He is probably 8-10 years old, and was at least 10 pounds underweight, with numerous scars and skin problems. He has been in foster care, and has thrived! An update from his foster mom follows:

"We have been very successful at the dog/cat relationship as you can see. It has taken a while to desensitize him to cats, but he has come a long way with the house cat. We still have to be careful if any of the cats decide to run in front of him because he will pursue. He's a great boy. He will be great for someone who wants a low energy and sweet baby. We really love him.  We crate him if we have to leave, and he has been off leash in the house for quite some time now.

He wasn't great with our cats at first and it took some time to desensitize him to the cats. He wanted to go after them. As you can see the white cat has nothing but love for him anyway. He did go after her once when he first came here. We walk every morning with two cats on a 20 min walk, and we have a lot of time to get used to cats running around us. He loves human attention so much that it has been easy for him to learn that "not" staring at and going after the cats gets him so much love. He has actually started looking at me now when a cat comes around because he is conditioned that I really lavish the love on him for ignoring.

I am definitely considering to continue as his foster and let you post his pictures with my information. A potential adopter would have to be willing to really give him a great home and pamper him. He has had quite a hard life looking at ALL his scars. His tongue has even been split on the end. He really deserves a great home!"

The old dogs are so often overlooked, yet they are usually the most enjoyable and laid-back members of the family, with few vices and exceptionally loving personalities. Generally speaking, boxers can be expected to live to age 12, or even older, and most treatable health problems that come up are not extremely expensive to treat.

Please consider giving a home to some of our seniors! You'll wonder why you never did before!

Other Dogs

DISCLAIMER:  These "Other Dogs" have not come into the Middle Tennessee Boxer Rescue program. In some cases, they are owned by the person listing them as available; in others, the dog may be in a shelter or foster home that is not connected with Middle Tennessee Boxer Rescue. We are listing these dogs in an effort to help. All information is provided by the owner/guardian of the dog, and MTBR assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of such descriptions. We make no warranties or guarantees of the age, health, temperament or other attributes of the dog, and a potential adopter should satisfy him/herself that the dog is suitable for his/her household before taking the dog.

         Spoiled? Not me!

I hate this thing! Wish the other dogs would just go away!

                I like to snuggle...
Max

Max is 15 months old. He lives with a large male doberman and a 15 year old large female mixed breed. In the last couple of months we have had several dog fights; they either involve food, or attention. Three of these fights have resulted in several wounds, both dog and human. Max will need to be with a couple or family with NO other dogs or cats. He is a very loving dog, but needs some training. He has been crate trained and house trained. He knows how to open doors that have the long handle instead of the standard round handles.

He has recently become used to a muzzle - necessary when both males are going to have to be near each other. The doberman has never accepted Max and never liked him. Now, with Max reaching maturity, he does not back off at a growl or a look - he will go right back at it full bore, even with the female, who even at her age does not back off either.

This situation is very stressfull for ALL concerned. ; We have no other choice but to place him.

Please contact Mark at 615-717-7397 or Tom at 615-397-7101.

Canyon

Canyon is a 7 year old neutered fawn male boxer. He has been with us since he was a puppy but we have a growing family and little room left for a big dog. He's a great dog but needs more attention then we are able to provide right now.

He is a big boy but thinks he's a lap dog! He loves to snuggle, take naps and go on short walks. He's more of a couch potato then an athlete!   Our family is growing and even though he is great with children we are hoping to find a family that has more time to devote to this lovable guy.

He has never been around cats so I can't say whether he would get along with them, but he has lived with a yorkie before and got bossed around by him! He's very lovable...can be a little intimidating with barking if someone comes to the door but licks them to death once they're inside.

If you think you might like to adopt Canyon, please contact Melissa at allenvines@gmail.com. Canyon is located in Franklin, TN.

Please do not contact MTBR about this dog, as we have no further information about him.

Charlie

Charlie is a beautiful 3 year old boxer that we rescued from a kill shelter. Unfortunately, we have to keep Charlie in a dog pen outside because we have another male boxer that is on a run outside and the two males don’t get along.

We would love to find a good home for Charlie. He is great with kids, and he has already been neutered.

If you think you might be interested in adopting Charley, please contact Roxann Sanders at 931-797-2936 (Only if seriously interested).

Please do not contact Middle TN Boxer Rescue about Charley, as we have no further information.

Lucky

Lucky is approximately 3 yrs old. He is a boxer mix who weighs approximately 60 pounds. Lucky is neutered, healthy, and up to date on shots and heartworm preventative. He is sightless in his left eye but that does not slow him down.

Lucky is leash trained, house trained, crate trained, not a counter surfer, chewer or garbage picker. He rides well, gets along well with other dogs, cats, and children. He is a sweet boy who plays quite well with other dogs - even ill-tempered ones. He is loyal and easy going, and enjoys a walk or run with his "people."

Lucky is content to hang out with his family & eager to please. He is well behaved at dinner time, not food aggressive or a table beggar.

If you think you might be interested in adopting Lucky, please email Vicki at VickiMoore@chromatics.com.
